Traidcraft

TRAIDCRAFT is a Christian trading company that seeks to aid developing countries through trade, linking us as consumers with the people behind the products.

The company started out 21 years ago with a hand -drawn catalogue, and now has sales totalling £7 million per annum, selling products from 25 countries, and thereby changing the lives of more than 5 million people. In 21 years Traidcraft has also changed the shopping habits of millions of U.K. consumers, challenged the way business and government think about trade, and has provided 25 million days of fairly paid work for its producers.

The new autumn catalogue is packed full of fairly traded essentials: fine foods, gifts for all the family, Christmas cards, wrap and decorations. Please collect your free copy from the Traidcraft stall at the back of the church, and you will find innovative ideas for making your festive season a fairly traded one. With your help Traidcraft can become the bridge that allows many more families to benefit from fair trade, giving them a brighter and better future. By placing an order you too can make a difference.

REMEMBER, Fair Trade is about creating a market for skills, products and commodities in the 'third world'. By selling their goods in the U.K., Traidcraft helps crafts people and farmers in developing countries to improve their lifestyles and their local communities. We are part of a global community. Our concern for the poor and exploited moves us to seek justice.

Fair trade is about practical action to remove the causes of poverty.

"A poor man's fields may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it away" (Prov.13.23)

A GRAIN OF RICE

Consider the price of a grain of rice

In a polythene bag, clean and strong.

Consider the trade, the price that is paid

To the planter who toils for so long.

Not the cost of the shelf Or the building itself

Or the slogan that tells us to buy.

But consider the price of that grain of rice

And buy fairly - now - why don't you try?
